NOURISH products are clean, whole food – made without refined sugar, dairy, processed or artificial ingredients. We’ve eliminated grains, making our baked goods naturally gluten-free and lower on the glycemic index.
All Nourish products are gluten-free and grain-free because we believe that reducing or eliminating gluten and grains lowers the level inflammation in the body and helps to manage insulin levels. To get the most nutrients, grains are best consumed either sprouted, fermented or soaked but the most commonly available grain products and even gluten-free flours are overly processed and stripped of nutritional value. Most products made with wheat or “whole grain” flour are higher on the glycemic index and lead to elevated blood sugar and insulin. Instead, we use almond meal made only from ground up almonds. With magnesium and antioxidant Vitamin E, almond meal is a nutrient rich choice.
Our products are naturally sweetened with whole fruit like bananas, dates and apples. When additional sweetness is needed, we use nutrient rich sweeteners like coconut nectar and coconut sugar. Coconut nectar is derived from the liquid sap of coconut blossoms. It is a very low glycemic, nutritive sweetener containing amino acids, potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and vitamins B and C. Coconut sugar is the crystallized form of coconut nectar.
We use virgin coconut oil and nut oils which are some of the best unprocessed, unrefined choices. Coconut oil is a medium-chain fatty acid that contains anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. These oils are full of beneficial vitamins and fatty acids like Omega-3 because they haven’t been oxidized through processing or treated with chemicals.
